Filo is a Somatic Movement Practitioner registered with ISMETA, a Community Rhythm Facilitator and a Psychotherapist registerd with the European Association for Body Psychotherapy.

Filo is originally from Italy and has lived and worked in the UK since 1994. Her professional foundation is in Humanistic Integrated Counselling, Counselling Psychology (BPS), and Clinical Supervision. Driven by a lifelong interest in integrating the body into healing, she trained in Embodied Relational Therapy (ERT) and became an accredited Body Psychotherapist with the European Association for Body Psychotherapy (EABP). Her career spans Mental Health and Primary Care (1996–2003) and ongoing independent practice since 1997.

Her passion for music and rhythm led me to become a Community Drum Circle Facilitator, organising rhythmical circles using drums, percussion, dance, and song. Holistic and embodied approaches to health, personal growth, and music are central to both her life and work.

The integration of her studies and passions culminated in an MA in Dance and Somatic Wellbeing from UCLan, which informs her co-creative work in somatic movement and deep embodiment. Her practice is rooted in anatomical awareness, non-verbal and metaphorical expression, restorative processes, and contemplative movement. She has researched somatic movement, focusing on community dance and developmental movement, especially for families affected by the 2020–21 pandemic.

Filo facilitates workshops and groups that foster creativity, resilience, and connection to natural rhythms, collaborating with community agencies, with a special interest in somatic movement for people living with Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions.

We’re delighted to be working with Filo on our Grindleton Neuro-Moves programme. You can find out more about Filomena’s practice here
