George is a dance artist, choreographer, facilitator, pilates and yoga teacher.

George was born in Glasgow and went on to study at the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance.

After graduating he went on to work as a performer and choreographer for a number of dance companies and choreographers both internationally and in the UK including: Nigel Charnock and dancers, Ludus Dance, Motionhouse, National Dance Company of Wales and Flexer and Sandiland to name but a few.

George worked as Assistant Artistic Director on the 2012 Cultural Olympiad Commission in Birmingham with Motionhouse and, in 2014, he choreographed You et Vous, a European Commission for 4 international professional integrated dance companies.

During his time as a performer, George worked as a teacher in the UK creating workshops and teacher training for the National Curriculum in which he used dance as a method of teaching physical, social and health education. George went on to work with early learning pedagogies facilitating performances and best practice approaches in relation to the cognitive and emotional development in young people.

George continued his research in the area of dance movement psychotherapy under the supervision of Edge Hill University and Osteopath Charles Tisdale where he investigated the phenomenological processes of pain and how applied touch and postures can cure and eleviate particular pain symptoms. At this time George was funded by the Dancers Career Development Fund to train as a Cranial Sacral Therapist. George also went to India and studied eastern medical approaches in physical psychology and completed a diploma in Yoga therapy and another in Advanced Yogic Practices from the University of Pune India .

George is a senior member of the Royal Society of Medicine for his contribution to the health and wellbeing sector.

Alongside his work with LPM, since 2015, George has worked as an Associate for Indepen-dance, Glasgow where he has created a number of performances, training initiatives and workshops for people who have a disability.

George continues to work across sectors with artist companies and venues in order to promote the effectiveness of dance as a means of positive change.

Helen is a dance artist, movement director, project manager and performer.

Helen trained at Bird College of Dance and Theatre Performance. Her performance career has spanned the commercial and contemporary dance theatre sector in the UK and Europe in contexts ranging from musical theatre to film, contemporary dance performance to casino productions.

Helen worked for Ludus Dance from 2009-2011 where she was responsible for the development, management and delivery of a wide range of community dance activity across Lancashire. Here she discovered a keen interest in inclusive practice and working with people with a range of abilities and different health conditions.

In 2011 she co-established LPM Dance  with George and since then the company has developed a track record for creating and producing new dance initiatives in diverse settings, many of which have an inclusive focus. Selected works include Oracle (Producer), ‘IF’ Dance Festival 2018 (Producer), Cabinet of Curiosities 2016 (Dancer/Producer), Astley Illuminated 2015 (Dancer/Project Manager).

Helen works closely with choreographer Lisa Simpson and Lisa Simpson Inclusive Dance. She has supported as translator/project manager for many years.

As Movement Director previous work includes; Beauty and The Beast (The Dukes Theatre), Cinderella (The Dukes Theatre), No Fat Juliets (The Dukes Theatre and Oldham Coliseum) As You Like It (StoryHouse), The Last Resort (English National Ballet- as Assistant and Stones in His Pockets (National Tour- Chipping Norton Theatre/Dukes Theatre), Duvet Dancing (Primed for Life), Twelfth Night (StoreyHouse), The Borrowers (StoryHouse), Henry V (StoryHouse). Helen has also worked as Regional Artist for English National Ballet delivering their Dance for Parkinson’s programme in Manchester, and as Movement Artist for the Dukes Theatre flagship project Still Me & Bring Me Laugher  for people living with Dementia.

Helen has an MSc in Dance Science in Education from  Edinburgh University. Her research included exploring Dalcroze Eurhythmics in the context of a Dance for Parkinson’s class. She has presented papers at the International Association of Dance Science and Medicine Conference 2018 (Helsinki, Finland) and the International Conference of Dalcroze Studies 2019 (Katowice, Poland) where she won the Selma Odom prize for best student paper.

Helen promotes Dalcroze as a relevant and practical method of music training for dancers.

Mel delivers Flow and Connect for LPM Dance,  along with her other specialist classes for people living with neurological conditions and dementia.

Melanie is a founder member of Dance for Parkinson’s Partnership UK, a voluntary organisation providing opportunities for people with Parkinson’s to dance.

In 2014 she travelled to the USA to meet with leading practitioners in this field. She spent three weeks in California with John Argue, the creator of ‘The Art of Moving’, an innovative style of dance practice for people with Parkinson’s.

She has developed her own brand of dance classes for people with Parkinson’s, called ‘PD Flow and Connect’. An important element of these classes is exploring a sense of movement flow through weight transition and by slowly building movement momentum during class.

Melanie has developed one-to-one dance sessions in people’s houses as ‘Home Performance’.

Through her dance and health business, Conscious Bodies, Melanie also works with people recovering from Stroke or living with Dementia, Muscular Dystrophy and Multiple Sclerosis. She is the lead dance artist at Pioneer Projects in North Yorkshire, where she delivers weekly classes and training whilst working alongside visual artists in projects such as ‘Bridging the Gap’, a three-year Big Lottery-funded programme located in care homes.

Melanie is a member of Dance for Parkinson’s Partnership UK’s advisory group, whose role is to direct the development of high-quality dance classes throughout the UK. Her Fellowship has enabled her to bring new perspectives to the group’s work and to help ensure that a range of practices are available for people with Parkinson’s who want to engage with dance.

Mel has recently completed her PhD at University of Roehampton .

Corinne Tams is an Independent Dance Artist with over 20 years of experience in creating, performing and facilitating Dance. Training in Ballet, Tap, Contemporary, Commercial and Modern Dance, led Corinne to perform as part of several dance troupes, in cabaret and theatrical venues throughout the North West.

In 1999 she joined False Impressions LTD as choreographer and principal dancer on their flagship show “Illusion”, touring fringe venues and festivals, including a residency in Londons’ Westminster Theatre. Within her work with False Impressions, Corinne supported the development of their cabaret and cruise acts through creating professional audition workshops, rehearsal directing, choreographing works and promoting skills sharing between artists; she also co-produced a childrens’ workshop to tour alongside the cabaret acts, allowing participation in dance, circus and magic skills.

In 2014 Corinne became involved in Early Years education, working within Childrens’ Centres to promote movement development through dance. As part of a school readiness programme, she created a series of sessions, exploring popular childrens’ literature through play and dance.

Working in special schools and supporting SEND children, sparked an enthusiasm for providing dance opportunities for all and promoting inclusive dance practices. Corinne now delivers dance sessions to people of all abilities and ages, from nurseries and elderly care homes, to specialist schools and dance academies.

Other focusses of Corinne’s work include somatic practices, dance science and anatomy, and safe dance principles within young and developing artists.

Corinne performed ‘Hodge Podge’, a participatory dance theatre work co-created with Artist Alissa Nehrlich, at LPM Dance’s Let’s Move Festival in July 2021.

Hello! I am an assistant dance artist for LPM Dance’s Preston Connect and Flow sessions. My role involves supporting Dr Mel Brierley with setting up before the sessions, aiding in adapting movement and engaging in conversation with participants.

Aimee has been delivering online ballet for LPM Dance throughout lockdown. She has also collaborated on projects as performer including EXPO with Wash Designs.

Aimee is a freelance dance artist based in Lancashire. After training with The Royal Ballet School and gaining a 1st Class BA (Hons) at The Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, she performed with Rambert Dance Company at In Transit Festival, London. She then went on to tour nationally and internationally with Ballet Cymru. She has collaborated with Cerys Matthews in the production TIR.

Recently she has been working on various projects with AbouTime Dance Company, Androna Dance Theatre, Born & Bred Dance Theatre, LPM Dance, Wild Rumpus, Just Imagine UK, Turnaround Dance Theatre, Emily O’Shea Dance Company, as well as various works in television, music videos and film.

Ellen Turner is a dance artist and filmmaker

She trained at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance and began her career by joining Ludus dance Company where she gained performance and educational facilitating experience. She has toured work by Yael Flexer, Ben Wright, Nigel Charnock, to name a few and has gone on to work with Tmesis Theatre, LPM Dance and Casson & Friends. She has worked alongside Gary Clarke, Elinor Randle, TC Howard, Adele Thompson, and Robert Clark. She regularly teaches for Yorkshire Dance and has set up TADT’s regular Dance Around classes. She is the lead artist for InMature Dance company, a project lead by Yorkshire Dance to help combat loneliness and isolation in care home around Yorkshire and to help people who live with dementia.

I work as both a Freelance Photographer and a Remote (or Virtual) Administrator. I’m also a founder member of Morecambe Artist Colony and a member of the programming team for Baylight – the Morecambe light art festival.

After graduating from university, Philippa decided to stay in UK’s seconding city – Birmingham to

work alongside, musicians, artists and various arts organisations in the West Midlands. Over the years she has been a part of programming teams in organisations such as Town Hall Symphony Hall (B:Music) and Shakespeare’s Birthplace Trust. Her main passion and role whilst working at such organisations has always been cultural democracy, making sure that all feel welcome, heard and seen from entrance to stage. Philippa recently returned to her home county of South Yorkshire after spending eight months in the Democratic Republic of Congo where she was working with the youth organisation The Congo Tree. Whilst she was there, she had the pleasure of working alongside and collaborating with the artists of the city of Goma, as singer-songwriter Philippa Zawe.

I support the team at LPM with the Neuro Moves project. I also work as a freelance journalist, specialising in music and culture.

Hannah has been dancing since she was two years old. She has worked as a professional dancer and teacher both in London and in the North West of England. With roots in classical ballet, tap, modern dance and contemporary, she enjoys expression through movement and loves to feel guided by music when she dances. Hannah has led LPM’s Neuro-Moves programme in Fleetwood and is now working with us on DoodleBug as tour booker.
